Bargains by the Water at Heritage Harbor

The Chicago Tribune recently published an article by Mary Umberger that explores the sustained value of vacation homes, particularly homes on water-front property.  Heritage Harbor has continued to hear from many of our guests that investing in a resort home near water is something that still makes sense in todays new economic environment.

With homes ranging from the $100′s to the $700′s, Heritage Harbor Ottawa has many different opportunities for folks who seek a “vacation lifestyle”.  A recent survey of our guests has pointed to a few emerging trends.  Most of our guests tell us that they seek to be closer to home.  Driving three to four hours to Lake Geneva or Michigan is becoming less attractive.  People want to be able to take advantage of their “retreat” more often.  Another emerging desire seems to be “versatility”.  Our guests also tell us that they want to enjoy “four season” activity with a vacation home investment which is why we feel Ottawa, LaSalle County, Starved Rock and the Illinois River offer the ideal location for Heritage Harbor.

Here are a few more sites you might want to visit in order to explore Heritage Harbor.

Heritage Harbor is gaining popularity for its well-protected harbor, excellent facilities and true customer service, making it the premier resort marina on the Midwest’s Illinois River.  Come in for a visit to enjoy the “fall colors”  and witness bald eagles soaring over one of the most scenic areas of the midwest.  We look forward to saying “Welcome Aboard”!

“Loopers” love Heritage Harbor

night looper

Heritage Harbor is gaining popularity for its well-protected, world class harbor, excellent facilities and true customer service.  It seems that word has spread among the Great Loopers that the HHO marina is a “must” stop along the Great Loop.  The Loopers choose to anchor at HHO, not only to see where the “River Refugees” stayed during the flood waters of “08” and as the “09” retreat for “Carp Captives”, but to meet the infamous Captain Moe.

Captain Moe traveled the loop in 2004 & 2005 aboard “SusanJoy” with his wife Sue.  Captain Moe tries to greet each Looper at the dock, caters to their individual needs and helps plan the next leg of their journey.  Loopers are treated to the “good life” while in Ottawa.    One looper just shared this comment… “Captain Moe is a Legend in the Making”

Heritage Harbor Ottawa has welcomed over 35 Loopers to the harbor this season.  They all had their own story.   Some were in their first week of their excursion while another was in the 4th year of their adventure.  Interestingly we had quite a few loopers from Canada this year.   Heritage Harbor is a place where they feel so comfortable that they come in for a night and stay for a week.  Whether they leave their boat to travel home for a short time or to get their “land legs” back, they are always welcome.  We helped two guests to find their way to Immediate Care and then nursed them back to health, preformed virus removal on a few laptops, and provided Tony support while his dog Tess had a tick removed.

Many of our guests have told us they feel that Heritage Harbor Ottawa is one the top marina resort communities they have visited…better than places in Lake Geneva, New Buffalo, or elsewhere in the Midwest.  Heritage Harbor is more than a marina for the Loopers, we make them feel like they are at home…

Here are a few of our favorite “Looper Blogs”…we love to be a part of their adventure!
